The Tree that Stands TallSize: 8.5in x 11in (30cm x 23cm)
Medium: Linoleum Carving Block Print September 2019 Exhibition Text: The Tree that Stands Tall was inspired by the Environmental art movement. This movement is newer than most starting around 1960's. I chose this movement because it amazes me how an artist is able to capture moments in nature. They capture images that people don't normally take the time to stop, look at, and appreciate. Within this piece, there are 3 sections. To me, it symbolizes the different stages a person goes through in life. How we change over time, but no matter what we going through, we can rely on our roots to hold us up to our fullest. |
The Spot Between the Sun and the MoonSize: 8in x 6in (20cm x 15cm)
Medium: Drypoint October 2019 Exhibition Text: The sun is meant to represent the light of the world that gives us day, or the light in the world that lets us truly see. On the contrary, the moon is meant to be the last little light we have even in the middle of all the darkness of the night. A time where you felt alone, even if there's someone next to you on the same boat, seems like there's no one for miles. You need to figure out if the sun is too far away, and is it time to look for the next light that comes in hope that it can lead you out. |
MIAD Industrial Design: Redesigning Seat CushionSize: (Board) 20in x 30in (50.8cm x 76.2cm) @ 170 resolution
Medium: Mixed February 2019 Exhibition Text: Using a website known as photopea which is a free online photoshop, I added my pictures and created a presentation that I will be presenting to a panel of world class industrial designers at MIAD college in Milwaukee, WI. This piece required a lot of research as well as creativity to try and figure out how to improve on aspects that others have already used, as well as try to identify new aspects made only by me to improve and go beyond any other models. My biggest challenge was making a model that could fit every situation. |
¿Is This Mi?Size: (3) 12in x 24in (30.5 x 60.96cm)
Medium: Acrylic paint on hand stretched canvas, Triptych December 2019 Exhibition Text: I was tasked with stretching my own canvases and then making a tryptic. The prompts were 1. reflection on me as an artist 2. how my environment effects me and 3. how I effect my environment. In my 1st piece, I wanted to portray myself as a tree due to the act that most of my art pieces revolve around the idea of nature. In my 2nd piece, I decided to draw a silhouette, and within it i was going to add my biggest inspirations. My last piece is to illustrate me looking over the city and at my environment. I did this because I've noticed I often do what I see around me. |
Do You Need it All?Medium: Gouache on Illustration board, Diptych
Size: (2) 12in x 16in (30.5 x 40.6cm) November 2019 Exhibition Text: This piece, which I titled Do You Need It All?, is a two piece project. The pieces alone do not have much purpose, but together they tell a story. My inspiration for this piece came from a homeless man I met in my hometown. Contrary to what many may believe including me, this man was truly happy and he taught me a lesson I'll always remember. During this piece, I enjoyed that I was able to take knowledge from other classes like IB Geography and incorporate them into my brainstorming phase. |
Cityscape Within the LandscapeSize: 24 in x 30in @ 170 resolution
Medium: Digital Collage February 2020 Exhibition Text: Cityscape within Landscape was inspired by my love for both nature as well as the city. One of the biggest hidden messages to my piece is diversity. You can never make or find two things exactly the same. No two leaves. No two buildings. Things may look very similar, but never the same. My piece is a combination of three separate components. There is the background which is a picture I took in a wooded area, there is the foreground which is Milwaukee's cityscape, and then there is the name Milwaukee. |
The Good LandMedium: Photography & Digital Editing
September 2020 Exhibition Text: This piece was inspired by artist Irvin Perez, Daidō Moriyama, and Megan Dill. These pieces show my view of many areas around Milwaukee, WI as well as some suburbs. These photos were all taken by me within the last year, and all recently edited using 3 different softwares. I got the idea when I found out a family friend was coming in the next couple months, and I wanted to show them some of my favorite places around Milwaukee. |
Industrial Design: Double 12 Subwoofer EnclosureSize: (Board) 20in x 30in (50.8cm x 76.2cm) @ 170 resolution
Medium: Mixed October 2020 Exhibition Text: Using a website, known as photopea which is a free online photoshop, I created a presentation board to display my design for my product. This piece required a lot of research as well as creativity to try and figure out how I could use aspects others have already used, and then modify those aspects to make sure my product has the best functionality possible and go beyond other models. My biggest challenge was taking measurements while trying to account for other items he planned on installing im his vehicle, while trying to reach 2.5 cubic feet for peak performance from these subs without taking up valuable trunk cargo space. I read online forums and reviewed many pictures to find which styles would work best for this application. |
Industrial Design: Trunk PanelSize: (Board) 20in x 30in (50.8cm x 76.2cm) @ 170 resolution
Medium: Mixed November 2020 Exhibition Text: Using a website known as photopea, which is a free online photoshop, I created a presentation board to display my design for my product. This piece required a lot of research as well as creativity to try and figure out how I could use aspects others have already used, and then modify those aspects to make sure my product has the best functionality possible and goes beyond other models that have already been created. My biggest challenge was taking measurements while trying to account for other items he planned on installing in his vehicles trunk space. I started off with rough sketches that turned into mock ups made out of cardboard. Using cardboard allowed for both I and the client to better visualize the product in the space and get a better understanding for what worked and what needed further modification. |
Different View PointsMedium: Photography & Digital Editing, Triptych
December 2020 Exhibition Text: These three photographs were shot in Milwaukee and edited by using PsE, Lr, and Google Photos editor. Although these were not taken on the same day, the conditions were very similar and were in similar time frames. This piece was inspired by my love for my home town, and the editing was inspired by Paul Reifer, Irvin Perez, and Rober S Knight. My goal was to capture the variety that can be found by look from a different view point while looking upon a Milwaukee sunset. The beauty can be so diverse while being of the same idea. |
